Longue Vue observes Equality Day.

The annual Family Equality Day celebration, held on Sunday at Longue Vue House and Gardens in New Orleans, is free for all families. It honors people of all identities, shapes, and sizes, with a particular emphasis on the LGBTQ+ community.

On the grounds at 7 Bamboo Road, there will be a plethora of events, such as a kids' parade, story time, dance performances, arts and crafts, and a fair featuring local resources.

 There will be a downtown architectural tour on June 14.

On June 14, a two-hour walking tour of New Orleans's Warehouse District will examine the area's distinctive architecture and history.



Starting at 10 a.m. at the Preservation Resource Center, 925 Tchoupitoulas St., the trip takes participants on a guided walk of the region, which features both historic buildings and the greatest collection of nearly two centuries' worth of commercial buildings in the city.

Lafayette Square, the second-oldest public park in the city, and the American Sector, which consists of homes built after the Louisiana Purchase, will be included.

Sale of Pelican Greenhouses, June 14–16

Plants, planting supplies, and more will be on sale to the public in the New Orleans City Park Pelican Greenhouse for three days, June 14–16.

  

There are hundreds of kinds available during the auction, with costs as low as $3 per pot, together with soil and pine straw.

Rose varietals, Old Garden roses, hydrangea, gardenia, philodendron, salvia, geranium, lantana, coleus, and other plants should be anticipated.

Show scheduled for June 21–23 by the Bromeliad Society

The 41st annual display and sale of the River Ridge Bromeliad Society will take place in the Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie, beneath the skylights close to Macy's, on June 21–23.

Plants will be for sale during the event, and club members will be available to answer inquiries.



The show is open Saturday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. The hours of the sale are Friday from noon to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.


Cleanup initiatives at City Park are spread out over the area.

To preserve and enhance the vast urban green area, City Park is hosting a number of cleanup days and activities. Those scheduled for the week of June 8–15 consist of:



Saturday at 9 a.m. is the Urban Forest Support Initiative. Gather at 1031 Harrison Ave., Volunteer Center.
Campaign to Reduce Litter: 9 a.m. Tuesday. Volunteer Center: Harrison Avenue, 1031.
Graffiti Cleanup Krewe: Thursday, 10 a.m. Volunteers remove trash and paint over graffiti.
Friday at nine a.m. is the Big Lake Native Plant Trail Restoration Project. Weeding, clearing away plant waste, mulching, shoveling, and other duties to keep native plant beds maintained are all considered horticultural operations. Meet at the area of 7 Friedrichs Ave. and the Big Lake Native Trail.
